Position Summary

The Main Street Coordinator serves as a community connector, project manager, and advocate for main street businesses, downtown development, and revitalization efforts. This position supports the Chamber’s Main Street initiatives by coordinating programs, events, volunteer engagement, business outreach, grant submissions, community events, and promotional activities that strengthen the downtown district and foster economic vitality.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Downtown & Business Engagement

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with downtown businesses, the Main Street organization and leaders, property owners, city and community stakeholders, and volunteers.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Chamber, Main Street program, and downtown businesses and other stakeholders.
  • Conduct outreach efforts to encourage participation in Main Street initiatives and Chamber programs.
  • Conduct grant and fund sourcing for Main Street development and revitalization efforts.

Program & Event Coordination

  • Coordinate downtown events, beautification efforts, promotional campaigns, and community activities.
  • Assist with planning and implementation of Main Street projects and initiatives.
  • Support volunteer committees and community partnerships.
  • Attend Chamber and community events as a representative of the organization.

Organizational Support

  • Assist with social media management, newsletters, promotional materials, and downtown marketing efforts.
  • Help maintain the Main Street program’s public presence and community engagement.
  • Maintain records, reports, and project tracking documentation.
  • Assist with grant support, sponsorship coordination, and fundraising activities when applicable.
  • Collaborate with Chamber staff to support strategic goals and organizational priorities.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support Main Street, community events, and Chamber operations.

Qualifications & Desired Attributes

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • Experience with Main Street organization, community development, event coordination, nonprofit organizations, marketing, business relations, or related fields preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong business acumen, interpersonal skills, and relationship-building abilities.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM/database systems.
  • Ability to work occasional early mornings, evenings, or weekends for Chamber events.
  • Positive and professional attitude.
  • Strong networking and public relations skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines, requirements, and requests.
  • Passion for community involvement and local business success.
  • Team-oriented mindset with strong customer service focus.

Compensation & Benefits

This is a full-time, salaried exempt position based on a standard 40-hour work week. Due to the nature of the position, additional hours beyond 40 per week may occasionally be required to meet organizational needs, events, deadlines, and responsibilities expected of an exempt role.  Compensation is commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Work Environment

This position operates in a professional office environment with regular interaction in community and event settings. Limited travel may be required.
