As a licensed midwife and owner of Huckleberry Baby Birth Services, Carissas priority is to provide top-quality, evidence-based midwifery care that focuses on education, personal choice and relationship. Working with Carissa helps women feel empowered, supported and safe during their pregnancy and helps them have the birth experience theyve always dreamed of.
Carissa was first drawn to midwifery after traveling in Central America for several winters with her husband and seeing the global need for medical care. Now that shes been elbows deep in this work for nearly 3 years she cant imagine women in McCall not having access to this service. She feels the Midwifery Model of Care is like nothing youve ever experienced and once you get a taste youll never want to go back to anything else. Her credentials and experience include a midwifery degree from the National College of Midwifery, Certified Professional Midwifery credential from the National Association of Registered Midwives, Idaho state midwifery license as well as years of internships at birth centers in the Boise area.
When she's not caring for her amazing clients, Carissa can be found with a cup of herbal tea in her hands homeschooling her two daughters, soaking in the great Idaho outdoors or making music with her violin or guitar.
