Medicare is a federal program providing health care coverage for those 65+, under 65 with SSDI, or under 65 with ESRD. Administered by CMS, it is funded by taxes, premiums, and the federal budget. Eligible individuals can choose between Original Medicare (Parts A and B) or a Medicare Advantage Plan. For prescription drug coverage (Part D) with Original Medicare, you need to join a separate private drug plan (PDP).
