Racing the Sun

Racing the Sun (RTS), headquartered at 5049 E Broadway Blvd Ste. 125, Tucson, AZ 85711, is an experiential and forward-thinking engineering program tailored for high school students. At its core, RTS challenges these students to undertake the design, construction, and competitive racing of electric and solar-powered go-karts. This innovative initiative doubles as a college preparatory program, open to all Arizona high schools, providing an immersive learning experience where students collaborate with teachers, mentors, and industry professionals over a nine-month period leading up to Race Day. Throughout this journey, participants apply principles of physics, engineering, and energy while addressing real-world challenges, thus honing their mathematical, analytical, and critical thinking abilities. In the team-based environment, students transform their conceptual ideas into functional prototypes, concurrently cultivating essential leadership skills.
