Police Department

The Andover Police Department has 30 sworn officers, one Administrative Assistant, and one Accreditation Manager. It operates the City 911 Communications Center, comprised of a 911 Director, Records/Evidence Custodian, one Community Service Officer, and five Communication Officers. The Andover Police Department has achieved “Law Enforcement Accreditation” from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). The Andover Police Department meets a minimum of 183 Law Enforcement CALEA standards, 208 Communications CALEA standards, and an additional 167 for Law Enforcement under the Kansas Law Enforcement Accreditation Program (KLEAP).

This coveted designation, awarded to less than five percent of law enforcement agencies nationally, is considered the highest standard of excellence in law enforcement. In 2022, the Andover Police Department became the first department in the state of Kansas to hold dual accreditation through CALEA and KLEAP.

The 911 Communication Center is also the first in the State of Kansas to gain accreditation in 2020.
