Our Better at Home services help us to fulfill our goal to enable older people across Wandsworth to live independently in their homes for as long as they wish to, or are able to. They include our very popular Be-a-Friend and Befriending Plus programs, which match a friendly local volunteer with an older person experiencing loneliness, our Handyperson service, which supports thousands of older people to stay safe at home each year by fitting grab rails, key-safes and doing small DIY jobs around the home and our Hospital Discharge Support service, which offers short-term support to people who have experienced long stays in hospital to help with the transition home and prevent re-admission.
Better at Home also includes our Online Food Shopping service, which is a telephone-based service designed for older people who cannot shop in person or use online food shopping websites independently, and the Voluntary Services Navigator, which works with GPs and community health services to support older people to access the support available for them.
