Cognitive rehabilitation services are therapeutic cognitive activities that are systematic and functional. The activities are based on assessing and understanding the person’s brain-behavior deficits. Designed to achieve functional changes by:
- Reinforcing, strengthening, or reestablishing previously learned patterns or behaviors.
- Establishing new patterns of cognitive activity or activities that compensate for any deficit.
Therapeutic interventions include but are not limited to direct retraining, activities that compensate for any deficit, and cognitive orthotics and prostheses.
