Art at the Library

Local Metal Artist Alan Root has created metal art for over 50 years. As a child, Alan spent his summers at his grandparents cherry orchards before apprenticing as an Ornamental Ironworker in Portland at 19. Alan is the third generation of a family of ironworkers and blacksmiths, using tools and methods handed down over the years: primarily working with a plasma cutter, stick rod welding, Acetylene/Oxygen torch, grinding wheels, and wire brushes.
