Original Medicare is the federal health insurance program for individuals aged 65 and older, and some younger people with disabilities. It consists of Part A (hospital insurance) covering inpatient care, skilled nursing, and hospice, and Part B (medical insurance) covering outpatient care, doctor's visits, and preventive services. This program is administered by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and is available to all eligible individuals regardless of income or medical history.
