Protecting your natural gas meter is the responsibility of the customer. Meters located in areas accessible to vehicles- such as near roads, driveways, or parking areas - should be shielded with 4-inch steel bollards or a concrete barrier, as standard curbs or sidewalks do not provide adequate protection. Bollards are steel posts set in the ground and filled with concrete to prevent damage from accidental vehicle impacts.
