Visitors can enjoy many fun and educational activities while exploring the refuge, but it’s important to follow the rules designed to protect wildlife and their habitat. Fires, camping, hunting, fishing, horseback riding, ATVs, swimming, and boating are not allowed, and all pets must be on leashes. Groups are welcome with advance arrangements, and picnic tables are available outside the visitor center. Guests are encouraged to take only memories and photographs while leaving plants, flowers, insects, wildlife, and artifacts undisturbed. All trails are for foot traffic only, drones are prohibited, state and local traffic laws apply, and visits are allowed during daylight hours to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.
