Asphalt is made by combining about 95% aggregates with 5% bitumen, heated to around 120 degrees Celsius, and delivered to the construction site in insulated vehicles. It is laid and compacted while hot to create smooth, durable surfaces for roads, pathways, and other areas. The properties of asphalt can be tailored through the choice of aggregates, their grading, and the use of special binders and additives to meet specific construction needs.
