Environmental Stewardship

Reflects a deep commitment to protecting ecosystems while prioritizing human well-being.

Founded in 1998 by two foresters dedicated to addressing deforestation in Central America, the organization has long recognized that lasting environmental solutions must go hand in hand with meeting people’s basic needs.

The concept of “stewardship” underscores the ongoing responsibility of caring for and restoring natural systems, with recognition that Indigenous communities who safeguard an estimated 80% of the world’s biodiversity hold invaluable traditional knowledge essential to this work.
