The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Teacher of the Year award recognizes one elementary, one junior high, and one high school educator who demonstrate exceptional commitment to teaching Americanism, patriotism, and citizenship education. Eligible nominees dedicate at least half of the school day to topics that promote civic responsibility, flag etiquette, and appreciation for veterans, often through community projects, field trips, or classroom presentations by veterans. Nominations must be submitted to a local VFW Post by October 31.
