Florida’s free Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) program helps prepare four-year-olds for kindergarten by building a strong educational foundation. To be eligible, children must reside in Florida and be four years old on or before September 1. Families can choose from a variety of school-year or summer programs at private child care centers or public schools, with a specialized option available for children with special needs. To enroll, families must apply through Florida’s Early Learning Family Portal by submitting proof of the child’s age and current address. After approval, parents can explore and select from approved VPK providers and use the VPK certificate to register their child with the chosen provider.
