A non-stress test is a simple and safe way for your doctor to check on your baby’s well-being before labor begins. It’s typically done in the office or hospital while you relax, and involves monitoring your baby's heartbeat and any contractions over a 20-30 minute period. Your provider will look for a healthy rise in your baby’s heart rate when they move this is a reassuring sign that your baby is doing well in the uterus.
