Newborn Hearing Evaluation Program

The Newborn Hearing Evaluation Program at Presbyterian Ear Institute (PEI) is dedicated to the early detection and intervention of hearing loss in infants. This vital program ensures that hearing impairments are identified promptly within 24-48 hours of birth through the universal newborn hearing screening, now a statewide mandate in New Mexico. Utilizing the auditory brain stem response (ABR) test, a non-invasive procedure, the program evaluates infants for hearing loss. PEI supports families throughout the diagnostic and treatment process, providing comprehensive care and guidance for infants who show signs of hearing impairment.
